Social Media Experience

As the first appointed Assistant Director of Social Media at the University of North Florida, I helped transform social media from an afterthought into a strategic, university-wide communication tool.

This role was not my first experience managing social media. During my time in Campus Life, I managed their social media platforms and gained hands-on experience creating student-centered content that drove engagement and community connection.

At the university level, I managed UNF’s official social media channels and developed a cohesive digital presence across platforms. My work included designing promotional and interactive graphics, producing videos, scheduling daily content, managing advertising and boosted posts, and coordinating post requests from departments across campus. I consistently promoted UNF’s brand to ensure a strong, unified identity.

Alongside the newly hired Social Media Coordinator, I helped establish the University’s first social media guidelines and created a formal submission process for departments requesting posts on official channels, laying the foundation for long-term brand consistency and platform management.

When COVID-19 hit, I played a key role in shifting our strategy from traditional university content to emergency communication. One of the most meaningful initiatives during this time was developing a social media campaign to celebrate graduating seniors who lost their in-person commencement. Graduates were invited to submit their photos and details, which we featured on our Instagram Stories, creating a moment of recognition and community during an incredibly challenging time.

This role strengthened my expertise in social media strategy, crisis communication, content creation, brand management, and adaptive communication during high-stakes moments. Below are some samples of recent digital campaign ads and an assortment of examples from my time as the marketing coordinator of Campus Life.

UNF Campus Life Social Media

Below are some of my favorite posts while managing the UNF Campus Life Instagram account. UNF has such a beautiful campus, so it wasnt hard to come up with beautiful content!

Branded GIFs

Branded Instgram Stickers (GIFs)

GIFs played a key role in modern social media, and I wanted to ensure the University of North Florida stayed aligned with current trends. I designed a series of UNF-branded GIFs for use as Instagram Story stickers, creating a fun, on-brand way to increase visibility and engagement.

Utilzing Snapchat Filters

Snapchat makes it easy to create custom filters, and I designed one for a contest hosted by UNF Campus Life. The contest encouraged students to showcase their school spirit by wearing UNF attire and using the Blue and Gray Wednesday filter, with the most spirited submission winning a prize. With nearly 30 submissions, the campaign not only boosted followers on the UNF Campus Life Snapchat account but also promoted engagement and school pride.

Snapchat Departmental Promotion

After the UNF Campus Life Snapchat account surpassed 1,000 followers, I wanted to create content that was both informative and engaging for students. That’s how #FeatureFriday was born. Each Friday, the account would spotlight a student group or department, with me filming while they showcased their programs and how they benefit UNF students. After the feature was posted on Snapchat, each snap was downloaded and compiled into a video to share across other platforms, maximizing reach and engagement. The video below highlights the UNF Club Alliance (now known as Osprey Involvement Center), a student-run organization that brings together all student clubs on campus.
